BRISTOL International Airport (BIA) has selected Weston Hospicecare as its charity for 2010.

BRISTOL International Airport (BIA) has selected Weston Hospicecare as its charity for 2010.

BIA has supported a number of charities after 2002, when staff suggested nominating a worthy cause each year.

This year more than 50 applications and proposals were received by the North Somerset-based airport, before a shortlist of seven was put to the vote.

An airport spokesman said: "We are thrilled that Weston Hospicecare was voted for by the airport team and will be our charity for 2010.

"To work with a local charity that benefits so many of our families and communities is so important to us.

"All of the charities nominated by the airport team provide such valuable service to residents.

"However, Weston Hospicecare had more of a personal impact on staff, as this charity received more votes than any other.

"We are looking forward to working with the Weston Hospicecare team and raising money towards such a valuable charity.
