The dangers of illegal tobacco have been highlighted during a public event in Weston-super-Mare.
Members of Avon Fire and Rescue Service joined representatives from North Somerset Council’s trading standards and public health teams in the Italian Gardens to give out free advice to members of the public.
The risks of smoking illegal tobacco were explained as well as the organised crime associated with it.
Avon Fire and Rescue offered fire safety advice and booked people in for free fire safety checks.
Many illegal cigarettes fail to comply with safety standards as they do no self-extinguish when not being smoked.
They also regularly exceed legal carbon monoxide and tar levels, and often contain higher amounts of nicotine than is stated on packaging.
