Thousands of people packed into Weston’s Tropicana at the weekend to explore the exciting world of science.

The Big Bang Science Fair was held on Friday and Saturday, as science fanatics tried their hand at a plethora of experiments.

A wide range of exhibitions including microbiology, engineering and computing were on show, and experts shared their wisdom with youngsters aspiring to work in science.

The event was organised by Madeleine and David Spears, who hope it prompts children to pursue careers in science.

North Somerset Council hopes to replicate the success at the Trop next year.

A spokesman said: “This was a great event with almost 3,000 people visiting over the two days. On the Friday about 700 children from local primary schools attended for highly interactive sessions.

“The feedback has been very positive and we hope to run a similar event next year.”
