It might have been hard to spot whose child was whose at the end of the school day on World Book Day, as hundreds of Weston-super-<are schoolchildren dressed up as Where’s Wally to celebrate World Book Day.

Staff and students from schools across Weston celebrated World Book Day on Thursday, with many schools running a Where’s Wally theme to celebrate 30 years of the iconic children’s books.

But there were also lots of children who dressed up as characters from other popular books, as parents got creative and made costumes from Harry Potter, Matilda, The Twits, The BFG, Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, Alice In Wonderland and dozens of other classic stories.

Libraries across North Somerset also opened their doors to schoolchildren for storytelling sessions – complete with fancy dress – and many nurseries asked youngsters to take in their favourite books to share.
