John Cleese to return to BBC for first time since Fawlty Towers

Actor and comedian John Cleese will return to the BBC for the first time since Fawlty Towers, despite vowing never to work for the broadcaster again.

The 77-year-old Monty Python star grew up in Weston and he is due to return to the BBC this summer in a comedy series called Edith, alongside his Clockwise co-star Alison Steadman.

In 2015 Mr Cleese said there was ‘no way’ he would work with the BBC, but he has said the Edith scripts are ‘the most enjoyable’ he’s ever been sent.

In Edith, the duo will play old flames whose romance hits a barrier when her 50-year-old son moves back in.
