A Weston-super-Mare couple who have raised more than £35,000 for Weston Hospicecare have been praised for their incredible efforts by the charity.

Keith and Joyce Price host the twice-yearly Weston Model Railway Shows at The Campus, in Locking Castle, which attract thousands of model railway enthusiasts each time.

They donate the proceeds from each event to the hospice and have raised more than £35,000 since 2009 by in doing so.

The hospice hosted a celebration in Keith and Joyce’s honour last month, where they were presented with a certificate of thanks and a bouquet of flowers by chair of trustees Judi Driscoll and former chief executive officer Liz Turner.

Keith, of Severn Road, told the Mercury: “We’ve worked hard every year to keep improving the shows and wanted to support a local charity in doing so.

“We really enjoy what we do and are delighted that the shows continue to grow in popularity and that we are able to continue to support to such an important local charity.”
