Book-lovers are being urged to have their say on the future of two Somerset libraries with just a fortnight left to comment on closure plans.

Somerset County Council announced plans to cut spending on libraries earlier this year and the ones in Cheddar and Highbridge have been put at risk of closure.

The public consultation period, which invites people to have their say on the plans, will close on June 13.

The Friends of Cheddar Library is asking people to fill in the questionnaire and make their voices heard.

Chairman Sue Purkiss said: “The library is critical to village life and would be much missed – if we want to save it we need to tell the county council what we think.”

People can go to the libraries in Cheddar, in Union Street, and Highbridge, in Market Street, during open hours to fill out a questionnaire.
