Leader or mayor for council?
PUBLISHED: 12:30 07 December 2010
PEOPLE living in Sedgemoor are being consulted over how they would prefer leadership to work in their local authority.
A change in the law means Sedgemoor District Council must choose either a leader with stronger powers or a directly elected mayor.
The council must adopt one of these new roles before December 31 and is consulting with residents until December 21.
People’s views will be collated and councillors will make a formal decision at its full council on December 22, and the new arrangements will be introduced following district and parish elections in May.
Comments should be made to email@example.com or in writing to the Team Leader, Democratic Services, Sedgemoor District Council, Bridgwater House, King Square, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA6 3AR.
