SCHOOLCHILDREN are being invited to take part in a poetry competition as part of the Weston super Food Festival – and the winner will receive a £200 cooking kit.

This year’s event, which runs on September 26-27 in the Winter Gardens and Town Square, will have a fish theme.

The Mercury-supported festival is being sponsored by Marks & Spencer, and the competition ties into its Forever Fish campaign to encourage people to cook with sustainable species.

The competition is for primary school pupils from Weston and the surrounding area, who are invited to write a poem about the Marine Conservation Society’s list of 30 endangered marine species, including the loggerhead turtle and thresher shark.

The list is at www.mcsuk.org/support_mcs/Get+involved/30+species and poems should not exceed 200 words.

The winner will be announced at the festival on September 26, and the winner will receive a Marks & Spencer cooking kit. Other prizes include hampers and certificates.

Entries should be emailed to sally@westonsuperfoodfestival.co.uk or sent to 33 Beechmount Drive, Weston-super-Mare BS24 9EY. To find out more, visit www.westonsuperfoodfestival.co.uk
