A Weston-super-Mare woman is taking on a charity skydive for a cause close to her heart – but is calling for more support.
Malaika Cattlin’s mother died from ovarian cancer 10 years ago and now she wants to do something to raise awareness of ‘the silent killer’ by raising money for research charity The Eve Appeal. But she has so far found donations hard to come by.
Malaika said: “This is a cause close to my heart and The Eve Appeal focuses on research of what is called the silent killer. This is my fourth skydive as I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie but this one means a lot as my mum was told she had constipation when she actually had cancer. It has been tough to get sponsors so any help I can get would be great.”
Malaika works at Eden Fitness Centre in North Street, Weston, and is offering a hot-stone holistic massage to one lucky raffle winner to boost her funds.
She said: “Anyone can come into the gym and buy a raffle ticket and I will draw the winner on the day, which is June 20. All funds will go to the cause.”
