A 35-year-old man was arrested by police yesterday (Wednesday) on suspicion of possession with intent to supply the drug spice in Weston-super-Mare.
The warrant was executed in Wadham Street and officers seized a quantity of what is believed to be spice and a dozen mobile phones from the house. The man has since been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
Spice – or fake weed as it is sometimes known – is an illegal class B drug and can have deadly effects.
Two men died in Weston earlier this month after taking the drug.
Detective Sergeant, Grant Boyd, said: “Two men have died in recent weeks after they are believed to have taken spice.
“Spice can pose a grave risk to people’s health and can even prove fatal and we strongly advise people not to take it.
“We will not tolerate anyone supplying illegal drugs in our communities and will take all necessary action to apprehend those involved in such criminality.”
