A MAN suffered bruising to his face and body after he was assaulted by a gang of youths.

A MAN suffered bruising to his face and body after he was assaulted by a gang of youths.

The victim and his partner were returning home from the shops when he was attacked in Selworthy Road on Weston's Bournville estate.

At about 9.30pm on Friday, the three youths asked the victim for a lighter for their cigarettes but he said 'no'.

The gang stole the alcohol the man had purchased.

Detective constable Sarah Davies said: "This was an unprovoked attack that left the victim injured.

"We are keen to trace these three men as they may have information to help our enquiries.

"We would also like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident."

The first youth is described as white, about 16-17 years old, about 5ft 2ins tall and of slim build. He was clean shaven with short, dark brown hair and was wearing a black hooded top with dark jeans and black trainers.

The second is about 16-17 years old, white and about 5ft 6ins tall and of slim build. He was clean shaven with mousey brown short spiky hair. He was wearing a grey hooded top and light blue jeans.

The third youth was aged between 16-17 years old, was white and is thought to be about 5ft 6ins tall. He was of slim build with short black hair and was wearing a white hooded top.
