A man was rescued from waist-deep water in the early hours of this morning (Sunday).

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a man in a rhyne in Brean Road, Lympsham, at 2.15am.

Fire engines from Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea and Bedminister were mobilised, along with a water rescue unit.

Crews discovered a man in waist-deep water.

He was rescued by the fire crews, who used a triple-extension ladder and water rescue equipment.

He was left in the hands of the police, who also attended.
