A WESTON man was jailed after he hurled a bottle of drink in one of the town’s newsagents and stole a packet of cigarettes.
Rocco Lepore, aged 26, of Locking Road, pleaded guilty to robbery in May last year after he entered the convenience store McColl’s, on Weston’s Oldmixon Estate, and threw a half-full bottle of drink at a display stand.
This incident occurred after he was refused cigarettes by store assistants Teresa Nettleton and Adele Turnbull - who was pregnant at the time - because he could not produce identification. The women activated the store’s alarm but Lepore ran out, taking the packet of cigarettes.
Lepore appeared before Bristol Crown Court on July 5 and was sentenced to 18 months in prison, minus the 129 days which he spent on remand.
