Two village halls have been broken into in the past week.

Mark village hall, in Vole Road, suffered damage on August 13 while Blackford’s hall, in School Lane, also suffered a break-in on August 11.

Damage was caused to the interior of Mark’s function room and the facility is funded entirely by the Mark community association.

Its chairman, Neil Corkish, told the Mercury he is ‘frustrated and disappointed’ by the incident.

He said: “It is very annoying and frustrating for everyone associated the hall, its facilities have been provided, developed and maintained by the community.

“We have had to replace certain items and it has affected the entire running of the hall.

“We are starting to get things back on track now, several meetings which were due to take place have been cancelled, but the hall is now alarmed again.”
