Folk music filled the halls of a Somerset village hall last weekend.

A Michaelmas Folk Fair was held in Cheddar to raise money for the hall’s renovation and for the Young Carers’ Camp.

Quartet Compendium, a capella Bristol Ponita and The Village Folk all performed at the fair to help raise the money.

Guests enjoyed nibbles, a raffle and live music and raised £750.

Co-organiser Judith van der Meulen said: “It was delightful and a superb evening in aid of our hall and Exeter University’s carers’ camp.

“A huge variety of wonderful things were raffled off to help us raise the money.”

The village hall, in Church Street, has been in desperate need of a revamp for a number of years.

The roof was completed last month and work will now begin to upgrade the services, including the electricity, heating and water.
