Burnham RNLI craft break off the search.

A MINUTE’S silence will be held in memory of four-year-old Dylan Cecil who went missing in the sea in Burnham, by members of the town’s rescue services.

Coastguards called off the major search and recovery operation yesterday (Mon) despite teams tirelessly scouring the waters after Dylan went missing on Sunday evening.

Searches are still taking place, but hope of finding Dylan alive appears to have gone.

The youngster slipped off the jetty while out with his parents who were visiting from Kettering and was pulled under the water by the strong currents.

Despite his parents going in to find Dylan, they in turn had to be pulled out by passers-by and emergency services were called at around 6pm.

Rescue teams from the RNLI, BARB and Coastguard were launched, with helicopters from the Coastguard and police officers assisting, while his family watched over the waters all night, but Dylan was not found.

Dozens of volunteers from the rescue services will take part in the minute’s silence at 10am on Sunday.

Safety demonstrations and displays will be held along Burnham seafront and the beach until 5pm.
