BURNHAM residents with learning difficulties have got a new place to socialise

The Monday Club was launched at the Bay Centre in Cassis Close on Monday, with the aim of creating a comfortable environment for members to meet up, chat and use the internet

Founder Julia Elswood and three other volunteers are running the project on a zero budget, but she is confident the project will be accessible to everyone with learning difficulties in Burnham and Highbridge.

Mrs Elswood said: “I wanted to create a place for people in mainstream society that was also right for them.

“I want to offer the opportunity for people to do everyday/ordinary things that a lot of us take for granted.

“Carers have a tough job and I want to create an environment that is comfortable and sociable for them too.”
