A GRANT scheme has been praised for helping family support workers learn the skills to help North Somerset people manage their money.

Wessex Water has been running the Money Matters scheme since 2013.

The grants of up to £10,000 are available to debt advice agencies, schools and community organisations who want to run a financial literacy or money management project.

North Somerset Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) received one of these grants.

Katherine Clark, welfare benefits advice worker at the CAB, said: “The Training For Trainers programme is going really well and we would like to thank Wessex Water for giving us the opportunity to be able to take this new approach on tackling debt and financial hardship of our users.”

Applications are open until June 30 and can be made at www.wessexwater.co.uk/moneymatters
