A £5million development of 35 affordable homes in Weston-super-Mare has just been completed.

Stonewater has built the Hay Grove development just off Wellsea Grove.

There is a mix of three-bed and two-bed homes, coach houses and apartments, available to rent under a shared ownership scheme.

Stonewater’s executive director Jonathan Layzell said: “In just a decade, house prices in Weston have risen by 30 per cent making it almost impossible for young people and families on local salaries to afford to live in the town.

“We’re delighted to see our new Hay Grove homes going to local people and families who support local shops, businesses and services.”

Stonewater worked with Weston College during the building, giving work experience to construction students, and has been supported by North Somerset Council.

There is also a children’s play area, and an art installation created by Elaine Marks.
