MORE weddings in North Somerset than the national average are involving brides and grooms who have previously been married.
Latest figures released by the Office of National Statistics reveal that in 2011, less than two-thirds of marriages are the first time both partners have wed.
Despite North Somerset’s rate being fractionally higher than the average in England and Wales, its figures are lower than many other parts of the South West.
Religious ceremonies are also becoming less common with more than 70 per cent of couples choosing a civil service instead. North Somerset has one of the lowest rates for religious marriages in the South West, according to ONS.
