WITH the Mercury Mendip Challenge just eight weeks away Weston Hospicecare has signed up three members of staff from Mountain Warehouse in Weston.

The 22-year-old store manager, Matt-Ryan Mitchell, is returning for his second year along with employees James Royle, aged 17 and Kristy Lawton aged 20.

Matt-Ryan said: “We took part last year and enjoyed the walk so much we got in touch with the hospice the next day.

“We did the 30-mile option, which was a lot more challenging than anticipated but it is still a really nice event and there is a walk for all abilities.”

All three are keen walkers and are writing training tips each week which will be available to view on Weston Hospicecare’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/westonhospicecare and on Twitter at www.twitter.com/whchospice

Matt-Ryan said: “I’m excited to take on this challenge again, as well as offer as much advice as I can through the Twitter and Facebook pages. The weekly advice will cover what we’ll be doing to prepare for the walk, right down to what we’ll be eating the night before.”
