A MUM of three marked her 50th birthday by completing the London Marathon.
Sarah Woolway said she was inspired to take on the gruelling 27-mile run by her landmark birthday and the upcoming Olympic Games.
The Barton Road, Winscombe resident is a volunteer in the RSPCA’s charity shop in Winscombe and raised more than £1,700 for the charity’s North Somerset branch through the event, and also from making and selling cakes and jam.
Mrs Woolway, who started training in September, said: “It was quite hard going, I had a chest infection a couple of weeks before the event which meant that I couldn’t do as much training as I’d liked to have done before the event.
“But it was fantastic. There’s such a fantastic atmosphere at the event, with people cheering you on and giving you sweets.
“I might try again next year, but I think it might be time for my daughters to take it on instead.”
