Preparations are now well under way for the 73rd annual Weston Flower Show – which will include a new photographic contest backed by the Mercury.

The show will take place at its new venue in Grove Park on August 12, and will feature competition classes ranging from fruit and flowers to floral art and handicrafts.

Adult, child and new family judging categories will be included, while school and garden competitions feature too.

The Mercury’s photo-sharing website iwitness24 will host a photography category, where images of Weston’s floral displays will be rated by expert judges. Submit pictures via weston.iwitness24.co.uk

The show, run by Weston Horticultural Society, will also see live music from A Cappella, plus demonstrations of skills such as woodturning and beekeeping. It will run from 10am-5pm.
