A NEW series of exclusive behind-the-scenes pictures of rebuilding work at the Grand Pier are published on the Mercury website today.

Regular visitors to the site will now the Mercury has been keeping people up-to-date with the latest developments at the landmark site with a unique photo series by Chris Abbott.

There are hundreds of pictures in our special online gallery, charting the £34million attraction's rise since building began in earnest in the autumn.

Latest pictures show the pavilion really beginning to take shape, with most of the huge framework in place, and walls and ceilings beginning to be added.

Exclusive interior shots show the imposing scale of the new building, and the speed of the work, which is back on track after the recent cold spell delayed vital concreting work.

Contractors remain confident they will be ready to hand over the pier to owners Michelle and Kerry Michael on June 25.

The duo say they are excited about delivering 'the best pier in the world' for Weston after the previous pavilion was destroyed by fire in 2008.
