Plans for dozens of new homes in a Somerset village have been revealed.

Core Strategic Land has applied to Sedgemoor District Council for outline planning permission to build 40 new homes on land off New Road in East Huntspill.

The 2.25-hectare development would be made up of six two-bedroom, 10 three-bedroom and eight four-bedroom homes.

There would also be 16 social rented homes created consisting of properties varying from flats to three-bedroom houses.

The application’s design and access statement says: “Most importantly, this is a deliverable proposal which will meet a current and identified affordable housing need for East Huntspill.”

The plans also include parking for more than 100 vehicles at the site.

Core Strategic Land originally wanted to build 35 homes at the site.

The consultation period for this application expires on February 2.
