TWO new Weston Hospicecare shops are to open in Yatton and on the Oldmixon estate in Weston.

It is the first shop to open in Yatton for the hospicecare, who cared for 30 patients last year and have a community nurse dedicated to the village.

A community nurse costs the hospice £11,000 a year and Peter Boyer, head of trading for the hospicecare believes that the shop will help support this service.

He said: “We have a community nurse specialist in the Yatton area each day visiting patients and their families providing them with advice and support through what is probably the most worrying time of their lives.

“The shop will be a fantastic way to contribute towards this cost.”

The hospice is also opening a shop in Aller Parade on the Oldmixon estate.

Peter Boyer said: “This shop will be a great addition to the shop network in Weston.

“The shops significantly contribute towards the £3million needed each year to provide our services to the community so are vital to the future of the Hospice.

“The Hutton friends group which serves this area has given us their full support so we look forward to it opening in August.”
