A RADIO presenter is hoping to set up his own 28-day community station in Cheddar next year.

Andy Saunders, from Weston, has been presenting on different stations since 1999 including Star Radio.

He says there is a gap in the market in Cheddar and wants to give the community a voice and let them be part of the project.

The station would provide information, traffic and travel just for Cheddar and the surrounding areas as well as a good choice of music.

Andy, aged 41, has already applied to Ofcom for a 28-day licence, and is now appealing for volunteers to help out and businesses to advertise on the station called The Voice.

He said: “Currently The Voice 106 is in Barnstaple and has been a great hit with the local community and my idea is to bring something to the locals of Cheddar

“Ofcom have invited people to contact them with an interest in running community radio stations in the future so this is the first step so see how people feel about the station.”

Anyone who would like to volunteer at the station or sponsor it can email or ring Andy on 07837 011111.
