Locking To The Future held its first meeting at the Coach House in Manor Gardens on June 28 with the brief of finding ways to improve the village.

One of the most popular suggestions brought up at the meeting was the need for a village meeting place – and the priests Anne and Richard Lee have now offered the use of the church hall at St Augustine’s Church for a weekly café, which could be up and running in the next few months.

Other popular ideas included holding more community events and having more activities for the village’s young people.

Event organiser Stuart Hayward said: “There was a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of energy at the meeting. The idea is sharing what makes Locking great, and what can make it even better.

“The first meeting certainly achieved this aim.”

The group’s next meeting will be held at the Coach House on July 19 at 7.30pm.
