WHEN a housewife from Shipham returned from holiday to find her beloved pet had disappeared - leaving one of its legs behind - she never imagined her cat would stroll back into the family home a week later.Janet Klutentreter came back from Australia with her husband Michael and was told her black and white cat, Puss, had had part of her leg cut off when she got caught in a window. Mrs Klutentreter, of Lippiatt Lane, said: "My daughter Sarah had been looking after Puss. She came down the stairs one morning to feed her and all she found on the conservatory floor was Puss' paw and no sign of the cat. She had a huge shock. "Puss always jumps in and out of the windows and it looked like she had got caught up in one."We looked everywhere for her but had to assume the shock had killed her."But a week later when I opened the conservatory door she came in looking for food. She seemed fine in herself."We immediately took her to the vets where they had to amputate part of the rest of her leg. But even now she still gets around and has a spring in her step."Puss spent two days at Green Pastures Veterinary Centre in Moor Lane, Weston, where staff gave her pain relief and antibiotics. But now the brave cat has made a miraculous recovery and is happily running around on three legs.
