Fears new homes could create danger on village roads

PUBLISHED: 17:39 03 February 2018

Drivers will be forced to take ‘their lives into their own hands’ if homes are built.

That is the view of one Yatton parish councillor as a scheme to build three homes on the edge of the village was debated last week.

Concerns over building three homes so close together in North End were raised by Yatton Parish Council’s planning committee.

Members voted to oppose the scheme.

Cllr David Crossman, who used to live near the proposed site, said: “Coming out onto the road you are taking your life into you own hands.

“Drivers go way faster than 40mph. It would be quite scary coming out of there.”

Plans show a pedestrian crossing could be placed near East View to reduce speeds.

North Somerset Council will make the final decision on whether to allow the scheme to go ahead.
