Children from a North Somerset village raised money for a good cause in honour of their former leader this week.

Blagdon Brownies performed a charity concert at the Seymour Arms in the village on Monday evening in aid of charity Asthma UK.

The Brownies raised a total of £130 from the concert in honour of former leader Stacey Fowles, who died after suffering with asthma.

Stacey’s daughters Charlotte and Georgia still volunteer and help the Brownies.

The group performed a medley of songs from The Lion King and Mamma Mia, wowing the pub-goers with their musical skills.

The Brownies also marked the pub’s Irish night with a performance of Molly Malone.

Group spokesman Chris Burton told the Mercury: “It was a really great evening.

“They had been practicing hard for four weeks at every meeting before the event.

“Thank you to group leader Debbie Hinnigan, who did most of the organising of the event. It was a really great evening.”
