Parking facilities run by North Somerset Council have been praised by a national organisation.

Weston-super-Mare’s Melrose car park, the Carlton Street multi-storey and Worle Parkway Diamond Batch car park have been accredited with a Park Mark by the British Parking Association.

The car parks have been praised for their safety, and also received Disabled Parking Accreditation for their accessibility.

The council’s deputy leader, Elfan Ap Rees, said: “Critics of our car park charges may not realise that to achieve these awards means committing to providing high quality parking facilities for everyone and we are delighted to have received this accessibility award alongside retaining our Park Mark.

“The fact our car parks currently have or have retained Park Mark accreditation shows our commitment to providing high-quality parking facilities where users can feel confident their cars are safe.”
