A FORMER nursing home owner from Weston is celebrating the publication of her mystical debut novel.

Sue Lipsombe ran Ryddenwood and Ellenborough nursing homes during her 22 years in the town, and also worked at Weston College and Weston General Hospital.

However the 60-year-old mumof-four, who now lives in Southampton, is celebrating after achieving a lifelong ambition by publishing Colandra's Quest under the name SF Barnes.

The book is the first of her planned Cronkel Chronicles, which combine mysticism with philosophy, adventure and science fiction.

Inspired by the many years she spent caring for coma patients, the narrative raises salient questions about the human condition, the nature of our existence and the philosophical possibilities that may await us in death.
