Staff at Weston-super-Mare’s Odeon cinema have helped raise more than £1,000 for charity.

Cinema staff were at the recent Stars Of Time Comic Con at the Tropicana, in Marine Parade, to raise money for Mind.

General manager Dawn Fisher and colleague Ash Creed spent the day selling posters and merchandise from films which were released at the cinema throughout the year.

They also hosted a raffle which saw guests walk away with family cinema tickets and merchandise.

Dawn told the Mercury the Weston employees chose the charity for the second year in a row and said it was ‘the outright winner’.

She added: “This is the second year we have been raising money for Mind, after we raised £1,600.49 last year. We managed to raise £1,577.32 to support Mind in all the amazing work it does.”

The team was invited to run the collection table for free by event organiser Dave Burrows.
