Heavy police presence at Weston College in search of robbery suspect

There is a heavy police presence in Weston-super-Mare today (Thursday) after a robbery took place near Jubilee Park.

The robbery happened in Colombo Crescent earlier today but there are now four police cars in Lower Church Road, near Weston College, trying to find one of the culprits.

The road has been shut as a result.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: “We were called to reports of a robbery in the Jubilee Park area, Colombo Crescent at about 4.20pm.

“The victim had a bike taken by two men, which has been recovered.

“One of the two men has been detained on suspicion of robbery.

“Another man is still being sought in area near the college.”

A spokesman for Weston College said: “There are no students at the college as it is the summer break.

“We have a swipe in and swipe out system, so there is no way anyone could have got into the building.”
