A ‘day of action’ which saw dozens of people arrested, included five from Weston.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary arrested around 50 people who were either wanted by police or had failed to attend court during an operation overseen by chief officers on the morning of March 8.

Of the people from Weston arrested, one was on suspicion of an assault, two were for harassment and two were for public order or threat offences.

Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner said: “Avon and Somerset remains a safe place to live, however it is right that the Constabulary target criminals who are causing the most concern in proactive days of action.

“I hope this shows local people that the police are listening, responding and putting an end to the activities which are a detriment to the quality of life in our local communities.”

The people arrested will face court proceedings.
