PUBLISHED: 13:30 12 May 2011

TWO men were apprehended for possessing drugs after police discovered the remains of a small cannabis factory in Weston.

Officers carried out a raid at an address in Addicott Road at around 10.30am on Saturday.

They found the Class B drug with a street value of £200 and paraphernalia including remnants of dead cannabis plants, plant pots and fertiliser.

A 27-year-old man was given a £80 fixed penalty notice and a 25-year-old was cautioned.

Sergeant Colin Batchelor, of south ward team, said: “We received a lot of calls from members of the public who said there was a strong smell coming from the cannabis.

“I would like to thank everyone who contacted us – if it wasn’t for those people we would not have been able to carry out this successful drugs warrant.

“I would encourage any members of the community with information about drug-related crime to let the police know.”

Police can be contacted on 0845 456 7000 or to report information anonymously, ring crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
