SERVING and retired servicemen were the recipients of more than £13,000 from a Somerset garden centre.

The total sum of £13,363.08 was raised through sales of Royal British Legion poppies at Sanders Garden World in Brent Knoll over the last seven years.

Sally Wingate, Poppy Organiser in Brent Knoll for The Royal British Legion, said: “We are thrilled to have received this donation from Sanders Garden World. We would like to thank everyone who has bought a poppy over the years for their support.”

Peter Burks, general manager of Sanders Garden World, said: “The money raised will go towards providing financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served, and are currently serving, in the Armed Forces, and their dependants.”
