Traffic on the M5 northbound is not moving between Weston-super-Mare and Clevedon, due to a road closure in place near Portishead following a police shooting.

Drivers are facing long delays on their way to work this morning (Thursday).

The queues are being caused by the closure of The Portbury Hundred.

MORE: Portbury Hundred to remain closed for hours.

The main road from junction 19 into Portishead is closed, after a man died in a police shooting yesterday (Wednesday).

This means many drivers are having to travel further on the M5 southbound to Clevedon to use an alternative route to Portishead.

But the roundabout at junction 20 (Clevedon) is now almost entirely blocked, causing tailbacks to junction 21 (Weston-super-Mare).

Drivers are reporting delays of up to an hour and a half.
