A community group working with children on Weston-super-Mare’s Bournville, Coronation and Oldmixon estates is in the running for more than £40,000 of National Lottery funding.

Our Time youth project has been shortlisted as one of five nominees in the South West for ITV’s The People’s Project.

The group has requested £44,565 which will be used to employ a part-time youth worker to design, implement and facilitate a youth forum, which will become the project’s main activity hub.

Carly Butchers, development worker for Our Time, said: “The forum will use the grant to build on the current programme of activities which have proved to be a vital resource for many families on the estates.

“We’re urging people to get behind us and vote to help us secure much-needed funding.”

Our Time is hoping to run lunch clubs, day trips away and summer holiday camps.

Cast your vote at www.thepeoplesproject.org.uk before noon on April 30.
