Progress for village plan

People working to deliver a plan which will give Yatton a say in how it develops say they are working on policies ‘as quickly as they can’.
Several communities across North Somerset are working on individual neighbourhood plans, which have legal weight and give communities the chance to identify how they would like their areas to develop in the future.
The Yatton plan’s organisers say they are completing a ‘balancing act’ in trying to get the proposal sorted before developers are allowed to build new homes in the village.
Parish councillor Chris Jackson told a public meeting on May 26: “We put together policies that deal with things of most concern to us as a community. We have got the big themes we need to work on and we are dividing ourselves up into smaller groups which will come up with ideas.
“Then I hope we will bring in other public consultation so you can tell us what you do and do not like and gradually, as a community, we can get something which suits us all and will be successful at the public referendum we have to hold.
“The developers just go and run things through as fast as they can – we are doing a balancing act. We are getting on with it as quickly as we can and I hope to bring something to you in the next month or two.”
