Campaigners were outside Weston General Hospital yesterday (Tuesday) calling on A&E to reopen 24/7 as soon as possible.
Protect Our NHS North Somerset has organised a protest outside the hospital after the emergency ward’s ‘temporary’ overnight closure passed the seven-month mark.
Campaigners fear the A&E department will never reopen and operate as it used to.
The service is being reviewed by North Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) as part of its Healthy Weston public engagement as it seeks a sustainable way forward for the town’s healthcare.
Responses to the plan must be submitted by March 2.
Last week University Hospitals Bristol revealed its intention to merge with Weston Area Health NHS Trust and run services across the area.
