More than a dozen hard-working volunteers cleared up Yatton Railway Station.

With no trains running due to engineering works, 14 people gave up their time to clear the station over the Easter weekend.

The event was organised as part of the Keep Britain Tidy initiative and saw volunteers join forces with Severnside Community Rail Partnership and new station manager Victoria Franks.

The Friends of Yatton Station group meets a couple of times a month, mainly to maintain the station garden, and last year was named outstanding in the It’s Your Neighbourhood Award scheme for its continued work.

Spokesman Faith Moulin said: “We have been going for 18 years now and the garden is getting better and better.

“We can always use more help and would be glad to hear from anyone with a couple of hours to spare a month.

“To find out when we are next meeting, ring Hilary on 01934 834889.”
