A RECORD and film retailer has agreed a deal to set up shop in Weston.

Head will open in the Sovereign Shopping Centre on Saturday in the unit formerly occupied by HMV over Christmas.

It will become the first entertainment retailer to set up in Weston since HMV left the unit on January 22, and stocks books and clothing as well as DVDs and music.

The independent retailer, created by music entertainment specialist Les Whitfield, currently has five stores across the UK, including one in Bristol, while its store in Belfast recently won an award for being the best independent store in Ireland.

Nick Cooke, centre manager of the Sovereign Shopping Centre, said “We are delighted that Head have chosen to open in Weston which for too long has missed a dedicated music retailer.

“The opening of the Head store will go along way in addressing this and deliver some of what customers in the town really want”.
