MORE competitions have been launched for this year’s Weston super Food Festival.

The Mercury-supported event will take place in the Winter Gardens and Town Square on September 26 and 27.

People are now being encouraged to register to take part in the festival’s Weston super Bake Off competition.

This year’s cakes and tray bakes must be made using vegetables as one of the ingredients. The cakes will be judged by two professional bakers, and there will be some foodie prizes for the winners.

Weston High Street store Walker & Ling will be sponsoring a food knitting competition. Those who want to take part could knit or crochet anything from a fried egg to a bowl of fruit.

And schools, individuals and groups are invited to register to take part in the edible garden competition.

Grow a container of edible fruit, vegetables or herbs and take it to the festival site to be put on display in the Edible Festival Garden. Food and gardening prizes are available for the winners.
