A CLASSIC car lover was given the royal seal of approval after cruising into Buckingham Palace as part of a special convoy to celebrate the Queen's 80th birthday.Roy Schubert, of Brecon View in Bleadon, was driving one of a procession of pristine cars that lined up to travel from the Houses of Parliament to the monarch's London palace. The unique cavalcade contained a car from each year of the Queen's life, including 2006, which brought the number to 81.Before setting off, all the drivers were taken into the House of Commons and given tea on the terrace beside the River Thames. The 61-year-old retired managing director drove a black convertible 1969 Triumph TR6 and raised £1,300 for the RNLI in the process.Fittingly, Weston RNLI crew member Andy Clapp was invited to be his co-driver for the day.Roy said: "It was a fantastic day and a real privilege to be involved."For a classic car nut like me, it was a dream come true.
