A village guiding group enjoyed a visit from Father Christmas at the weekend, who met well-behaved children and entertained visitors in his grotto.

The Christmas-themed coffee morning raised money for the Wrington Guides and took place at the village’s scout hut, in School Road.

Members of the guides set up stalls and sold homemade cakes and crafts throughout the morning on Saturday.

Paula Alvey helped to organise the event. She said: “We had Father Christmas in his winter wonderland grotto. He sat in his cabin, which was kindly provided by Timberwork Buildings.

“We also had a very special award to present to Father Christmas in the form of a Girlguiding Thanks badge. This was for all the years he has attended our Christmas
events.”
