A tiny bat found too weak to fly has been rescued by Secret World Wildlife Rescue.

The East Huntspill charity took in the brown long-eared bat after it was found in a member of the public’s garden.

Although the animal was uninjured it was very low on energy after enduring a tough end to the winter months.

Following a period of recuperation at Secret World’s base in New Road, the bat was fed up to weight before being released back into the garden where it was found.

Animal carer Dan Bryant said: “The owner was thrilled to have the bat returning to her garden.

“With lots of nearby woodland for the bat to hunt in, the area is perfect for it.

“With the warmer temperatures it shouldn’t have a problem finding food.”
