Secret World Wildlife Rescue has come to the aid of a poorly swan which was found collapsed by a road.

The East Huntspill charity cared for the bird after it was found by a roadside in Bawdrip, Somerset.

Response driver Graeme Thompson took the swan to Secret World’s headquarters in New Road to be checked over.

Animal carer Sarah Tingvoll said: “The swan had no obvious injuries so was given supportive care and transferred to a water tank for some rest.

“Around 60 per cent of admitted water birds brought into Secret World’s centre are injured by discarded fishing tackle, an issue caused by those irresponsible with their waste.”

The swan will continue its recovery in the centre’s water paddock before it is released back into the wild.
